The Seneca Rocks Trail

The signature hike at Seneca Rocks is the 1.3-mile trail from the Discovery Center to the observation platform at the base of the North Peak. The trail gains over 700 feet in elevation through a forested switchback path, rewarding hikers with panoramic views of the North Fork Valley, Spruce Knob, and the surrounding Allegheny Mountains.

Tips for the Trail

  • Wear sturdy footwear — the trail is rocky and can be slippery when wet.
  • Bring water, especially in summer. There are no water sources on the trail.
  • Start early in summer to avoid afternoon heat and crowds.
  • The observation platform has no railings in some areas — supervise children closely.
  • Fall foliage peaks in mid-October and the views are spectacular.
  • Dogs are allowed on leash. The trail is steep, so plan accordingly.
