What to Pack

Be prepared for mountain weather and outdoor adventure at Seneca Rocks.

Everyone Should Bring

  • Sturdy hiking shoes or boots
  • Water bottle (at least 1 liter per person)
  • Sun protection — hat, sunscreen, sunglasses
  • Rain jacket or windbreaker (mountain weather changes fast)
  • Layers — mornings and evenings can be cool even in summer
  • Snacks and trail food
  • Offline maps or printed directions (cell service is limited)
  • First aid kit basics

For Climbers

  • Full trad rack (cams, nuts, slings, quickdraws)
  • Helmet (required for most Seneca routes)
  • Climbing shoes and harness
  • 60m or 70m rope (some routes require double ropes)
  • Guidebook or printed route beta
  • Approach shoes for the hike in

For Photographers

  • Tripod for sunrise/sunset and long exposures
  • Wide-angle lens for landscapes
  • Telephoto for wildlife and climber shots
  • Extra batteries (cold weather drains them faster)
  • Lens cloth — mornings can be dewy
